Santa Fe Employee Recognition Special

West of Belva, Oklahoma

With the help of GE Dash 8-40CW's #844 and 840, engine #3751 leads a Chicago to Los Angeles employee recognition special passed milepost 359.

In 1927, the Santa Fe purchased a single 4-8-4 type locomotive from the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia. Numbered #3751, its performance and efficiency in tests so impressed the railroad that 13 additional engines of the type were ordered. Locomotive #3751 spent most of its career in passenger service and made its final revenue run in 1953. In 1958, the Santa Fe donated it to the City of San Bernardino for display. In the 1980's it was completely rebuilt by the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society and has been used in occasional excursion service since.

For more information about #3751, it is suggested you visit "http://www.sbrhs.org/".

My son loves trains and anything to deal with them. He has a lot of toy trains, but he has never been on one. So my wife and I were thinking that it would be a great idea to take him on a rail excursion. I think he would enjoy every second of that.http://www.scenicrailexcursions.com
