The original snapshot photo was taken in May 1941 shortly before I married
my loving wife in Columbia, SC,a few weeks after being drafted into the
Selective Service peacetime US Army and assignment to Fort Jackson. The
photo was a proud treasure to her and she carried it daily all during my
one year of domestic service and the three constant years of overseas European
service, which included the Initial Omaha Beach D-Day Assault of Normandy, France
and beyond. It also has been a precious memento for me, especially after her death
in January 2004 after our wonderful marriage of over 62 years. My attempt to restore
the photo was done with loving care and memories of our life and times together.--- Bob Searl
