Normandy, France - Omaha Beach Easy Red Sector - Exit E-1

This photograph was taken on June 18, 2004. This Beach Sector was the
exit point for troops of V Corps of the First United States Army which
included the First Infantry Division and the various Corps support units
in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944 and thereafter. The roadway
outlined here was my route and used by troops, tanks and other vehicles
exiting the beach area. The remains of German Gun Emplacement WN #65 is
shown in the lower left of the photo...Bob Searl

This was the Beach that the US Navy 6th Beach Battalion landed from LCIs on June 6
