According to Frommer's, if you have time for only one town on the Romantic Road,
make it Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber, an Imperial Free City in the Middle Ages. is widely regarded as
one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe.
Bounded by undamaged 13th-century city walls, the medieval town is seemingly untouched by the passage of time.
Apart from the beautiful historic architectures, the townscape of Rothenburg is also characterised by
colorful decorations at windows and old smithy guild signs, which all often nice and interesting.
