Soccer fans, ourselves included, have waited 4 years for this important day.
Disappointingly, no Brazil, Germany and England (as expected).
While we are neither followers of Italy nor France, it is not difficult to choose between the two teams.
The reason is obvious, Zidane.
But strange enough we had a feeling before the match that Italy would lift the cup.
We had high hopes of French glory after Zidane scored from the spot in the first half.
But the hope had soon been dashed after the Italians equalised with Materazzi's header.
As Viera and Henry went off the pitch after picking up injuries, the spotlight was heavily put on Zidane.
Then came that incident...
"Did you see it live?" "No I didn't, it's off the ball!!" is my answer.
Italy had then been booed off for the rest of the match, even after winning the game with spot-kicks.
Can you imagine?
Perhaps not many people would quite remember the champions of WC 2006, but surely not the incident...
An old Englishman we met after the match said, "England would probably not win the world Cup in 10-20 years".
But soccer is not a game only for winners, is it?
That's why STK Brothers and FC Yaumatei exist on this planet playing soccer day in day out.
