This series of American Kestrel images was captured in late afternoon at the San Antonio Open Space Preserve in Los Altos, California using the Canon 100-400 at 1/3200, f/5.6, 400 ISO. The Kestrel was perched on the top of a pine tree and then flew to a dead branch on an adjacent tree as my wife and I walked slowly towards it. We were able to get just a few shots off before it got spooked and flew off.
