After one of the periods of snow, Marilyn suggested we return to the meadow where we had seen so many Mountain Bluebirds because the snow background would make the bluebirds even more striking. She was correct and we were happily photographing the birds in different areas of the meadow when I noticed a bull bison moving very determinedly in our direction. I called to Marilyn and suggested we move back up to the roadway temporarily so the bison could reclaim his meadow. We and the bison were glad we did as he continued his brisk walk right over where I had been standing two minutes earlier and continued in the same direction for 100 yards before moving up onto the roadway. I was able to see him as he moved by a full-sized pickup truck stopped in the road and he looked large even next to the truck.
