Oops-I apologize Ron. Shows how poorly I know the central California coast. I see that Half Moon Bay is in San Mateo County, not even close to Monterey County. The latest info I have shows that the San Mateo County bird record compiler is:
Peter J. Metropulos
2940 Turk Boulevard
San Francisco, CA 94118

I apologize for the misinformation--Doug

Hi Ron. Very nice image, but just wanted to let you know this is a Prairie Warbler (probably a "hatch-year" female). This, of course, is an exceptional bird to find in California, although small numbers (like many other eastern U.S. warbler species), occur in Calif. during fall migration. Mid Sept. to mid Oct. is the perfect window for when this phenomenon most often occurs along the west coast. This record, along with the excellent photo documentation you have here, should be relayed to the Monterey County bird record compiler. If my information is still current, this would be Don Roberson, and he can be contacted at the following:
Don Roberson
