Canyon Wren (Catherpes mexicanus)

This very shy Canyon Wren was located near a huge rock face, two miles up a very steep trail at Henry Coe State Park(south of San Jose, California). My friend Alex convinced me to climb the trail with him for the chance to see and photograph this attractive but reclusive wren. He brought along his MP3 player(with small speakers) to help coax it from the bushes with a Canyon Wren recording. After many answering responses, but only fleeting glimpses of the bird, Alex's usual patience and persistence paid off and he was finally able to get it to come out of the bushes to try to locate the other "Canyon Wren".
