This was shot on 6x7 b&w film and scanned. To achieve balanced tones I made 2 scans. One for a good overall tonal range and one with much reduced "brightness" to achieve detail in the window and curtains at the end of the hall. The beauty of negative film is there is always detail in the silver if you shine enough light through it. The same could be achieved with a digital camera taking two shots (on a tripod) - one about 3-4 stops underexposed and do the same layering/erasing I did with these two scans from the one negative.

A most appealing study of a hallway in the hotel. It has a timeless feel about it and one might have been forgiven for thinking it was taken early last century. A very good composition utilising a full range of tones. FIRST.
