The author has placed this subject directly on the diagonal and this leaves an almost symmetrical balance of dark triangular areas on each side of the plant which
do take up quite a bit of image space. The subject itself is well lit and the raking light from the left casts interesting shadows across the plant. There is great
texture and detail visible and by shooting the plant in a single plane level with the camera the author has eliminated problems with focus. While the image is a competent
capture of a section of the plant, there may have been an even stronger story in a much closer shot that brought out the relationship of the spikes and the shadows.
