Lie the non distracting background, and the fact you have a story. But you need more shadow detail in the body of the insects.
Difficult shooting blacks against a bright sky. Try camera raw filter and select subjects, and try and bring up the shadow detail.
If taking again, I would suggest EV +1- + 2 to blow out he sky and get good shadow detail on the insects.
