This is a still life of some M&Ms – it is too dark at the top of the frame plus the lighting is a point
source (off-camera flash?) or a small lamp, and that produces a harsh lighting. To soften this, point
the light source directly away from the still life into a 10x8inch white card. Then point the card at
the subject – this then becomes your (reflected) light source and will produce softer, more agreeable results
