Hilltop near Guthega

There is a stark beauty to the stunted and windswept trees and granite tors of the Australian alpine region.
They make excellent subject matter for monochrome images. The vegetation here appears to be returning, after a large fire.
In 2003 I was photographing snow gums in the nearby area of Charlotte's Pass and by the time we headed down to Perisher Valley,
the fires had engulfed the entire ridges from Guthega, thru Smiggins Hole and Perisher Valley.
