St Anne's Ryde 2

Judges Comments

As a record of the church this image works well. I get the feeling that you wanted this to be more than just a record - using a
monochrome finish hints at this and evokes a feeling of yesteryear. The inclusion of the graves adds a layer of nostalgia/sadness/loss.
The inclusion of the tree branches in the top right unbalances the composition. Also, the roof line is a very strong line - my eye has an
expectation that is would be straight. Not being straight it gives the suggestion of the image falling down towards the left. It is
similar to a crooked horizon. So if you straighten the roof line, perhaps crop into the left of the image until the amount of sky/tree branch
looks more balanced? See what difference this makes to the image. You may end up losing the headstone on the left. I think the
remaining ones are strong enough to carry your intention.
