Geological formations and weather phenomena are legitimate nature subjects. However, images such as this need to be really outstanding to gain awards in Nature competitions. Your image is good (largely because of the cloud formations), but not great. The colours are very highly saturated and while I can accept that this may be "as you saw it" the blues in particular seem to be just a bit too rich. There are halos along the skyline that suggest over-sharpening. The white spec in the sky may be a bird but it is not clear enough for me to tell.
