A great child shot that would look fantastic in the family photo album. Unfortunately as a child portrait for competition it needs more.
We really don't want the child looking face to the camera, which captures her relationship with the photographer,
but doing something that captures her relationship with the world -- playing with a favourite toy, etc. But technically nice,
with highlights in the eyes, soft wide lighting, and sharp wispy hair. The chair in the background is unfortunate
but can be cloned out. And we'd normally use a 60 to 80 mm lens for portraits on a DSLR.
