I was excited to see that the female King Eider was still around today and hoped to get some shots in the better light forecasted for today. It ended up overcast for the little while the eider was close enough to shore for some photos, but at one point there was enough of a break in the clouds for some sunlight to slip through and cast nice warm light on the eider for a couple of seconds. It was enough to get a couple of shots and the one shot I really hoped of this very special visitor. The skies later cleared up and it turned into a reasonably mild, sunny day, the first in ages it seems, but the eider never returned anywhere near the shoreline. It was just for these couple of seconds that the proximity of the eider to the shoreline and the light worked out.
