Long-horned Beetle (Clytus ruricola)

I spent a couple of hours on the trails this morning and this was the only photo I took. The effects of last year's drought are being felt this summer with population crashes of many species of butterflies and other insects that use grasses and other wildflowers as host plants. This beetle would be unaffected by all that because it's larvae feed on decaying trees.

A great example of this Round-necked Longhorn....I have seen a lot (of a different type...White-spotted Sawyer) around my area.

This is a stunning shot of one of my all time favourites amongst the long-horned beetles.
