Eastern Bluebird

This is a very distant, heavy crop of one of the parent bluebirds from the bluebird nest box series I posted this spring. I haven't been able to get any shots of them nor have I really tried because they have been very, very wary of being approached or having anyone near their territory. This was just a brief, lucky moment when I was passing through on my way out (I also had a similar moment on my way in which I will save posting for another day). The bluebird had just spotted me from the distance when I took the shot below and the following shot (above) he flew to a closer tree for a moment while raising alarm. From there it was then up higher in the trees sounding full alarm. That's how it always went with these bluebirds.

Perhaps if they return next year - they will be used to you!

For heavily cropped photos, these are impressive. In fact, magnificent shots of this gorgeous bird.
