Evening Grosbeak (male)

These are my first ever shots of an Evening Grosbeak. I didn’t go out this morning expecting or looking to find any. It was just a random moment of being in the right place at the right time. That seems to be the way it is with seeing these birds around here.

At home I had another visit from the Red Crossbills at my feeders recently, just another one day visit, and I forgot to mention last time that there has been a Carolina Wren hanging around my neighborhood since at least September. I hadn’t seen or heard him for a couple of weeks and had forgot about him when I posted about the Red Crossbills, but just yesterday I heard him in a neighbor’s yard and today he has been back and forth at my feeders eating suet.

FANTASTIC shots Chris and that close to home. I especially like the top shot of the male.

Wow, I am envious of all your yard birds. I know what you mean about the randomness of bird sightings! These shots are fantastic and clearly they let you get some excellent shots.
