Pine Grosbeak (female)

For some reason all of the male Pine Grosbeaks have cleared out this week leaving behind a few scattered females. At one point a couple of them flew to the ground to eat fallen crabapples instead of picking them from the tree where we usually see and photograph them.

Excellent shot of this very pretty female. Next to the vivid males, the females fade into the background, but when seen on their own they, like the female cardinals, have a very lovely, subtle beauty.
