I saw these guys flying around throughout the week but today they were loafing within camera range in the shallows along the edge of the mudflats. The whole flock kept close together and isolating an individual for a shot was turning out to be a bit frustrating. The flock moved around as a whole, tightly bound, and any strays quickly ran to rejoin the group. It seemed like the closer the birds were to each other the more comfortable they were. The only time they moved was when a gull came along and herded the birds through the shallows. The birds otherwise slept the whole time as is shown in the last photo. So most of these shots where the birds were alert were thanks to a gull!
