Beautifully Rotten

I was reading a book on fungi the week I took this photo and came across this beautiful example of brown-rot fungi the day after I read about it. Brown-rot fungi only attacks the cellulose in wood, which is why wood attacked by it looks cubical in appearance.

My kind of photo too. I really like this with its earthy browns and the rich green around the rotting log. Nicely captured.
