Monarch (Danaus plexippus)

Migrating Monarchs have been a common sight on just about every outing I've been on in the last while. Most have been high up in the sky flying towards the south, but this one was busy investigating the mudflats.

Nice shot and rich background. Birders have told me that Presqu'ile Provincial Park is a very good place to see lots of Monarchs gathering in the Fall.
