American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis)

In the early afternoon a number of butterflies were flying around the coneflowers in my backyard. This American Lady was on one coneflower, a Great Spangled Fritillary on another, and a couple of Cabbage Whites on other plants. A Question Mark and Black Swallowtail visited earlier on. Question Marks have been super abundant during the last 7-10 days. It seems like every time I look out my window or go in the field I see at least one. I wonder if it is a good year for Question Marks because I have never seen this many before.
