These damselflies are very abundant from the end of May to the end of August. This morning, like my walk last week along the same piece of shoreline habitat, they were by far the most common odonate species around. But this morning, unlike last week, there was no egg laying frenzy among the females. I actually didn't see any egg laying this morning. Last week there were around 10 egg laying females along a 8 foot section of shoreline and many more further down. The same section of shoreline was deserted this morning.
