One section of trail we were on today was partially flooded and even had a small stream flowing down the middle of it. In the ice underlying the stream was this neat impression of a raccoon print. Raccoon prints were the only recognizable prints I noticed today. The mild weather has erased older prints from the snow and the density of the wet snow is enough to prevent new detailed prints from being made by the smaller, lighter animals. Even a plump grouse we saw walking around on the snow near the trail didn’t leave much of a print.
