I stepped out back today to see if I could get a few photos of the goldfinches at my feeders and I caught this male goldfinch with hints of breeding plumage on his head - his black cap, a sign of spring! I also heard the cardinals singing for the first time this year. They join the chickadees and nuthatches who all started singing earlier this month.
