This afternoon I went for a quick walk through the fields and forests in my local area to see if I could capture some of the ghostly frost that was left on the vegetation by a night of freezing fog. This Queen Anne's Lace with its frosted seed head stood out as something that needed to be captured. I tried several times to get a photo with a dark, evenly colored and blurred background, but without the right gear I couldn't get the photo I envisioned. (I needed a macro lens or extension tube). Frustrated, I stood back up and readied to leave, but when I looked down at the dead plant set against the white snowy ground it occurred to me that the situation I was trying hard to avoid, setting the subject against a white background, might actually produce something interesting. This was the result.
