Spring Peeper

It took several hours spread over three evenings to find one of these tiny frogs. They were singing all around me in the foot deep water, but being the size of quarters and exceptionally camouflaged, and with the habitat of reeds and stems providing many hiding places it was extremely difficult to actually locate one to photograph. What is more, as soon as I stepped into an area where I heard singing frogs they all stopped singing for a while, not starting again until I had been still for 10+ minutes, and even then only a few of the previously many started singing again. The frog shown here was found moments before I was about to leave because of declining light (I didn't want to be in the woods alone in the dark). I then quickly found two more frogs within a few feet of this one. This photo was the first I ever took with my macro ringlite flash attached to my macro lens.
