This is a cool table, made for a very good friend. It's white oak, with stripes of curly maple, wenge, and canarywood down the center, held together by ebony butterfly keys. The uprights are coopered quartersawn white oak, and the stretcher is wedged in by two bocote sliding dovetail pins at each end (see detail photo). (Not so) funny story...on the way home to New Mexico, a fierce wind yanked the top off of his truck and hurled it into the road. He pulled over, went running off into the darkness in serch of it, smack into a steel road sign. Should have seen his lip. So we both felt like crap, but we were able to do a perfect repair job on the table.
