I've been trying to identify a bird in Mesa, AZ for three years. It looks very much like a nuthatch, same type body and short tail feathers, except that it is all a dark brown. When the sun hits it, the feathers look a little bronzed. Any ideas? I don't think it's a European Starling because it doesn't have the iridescent coloring.
