Columns and Rays

Abydos, Egypt

Monday 2nd January 2006
Day 380

All the hassle of travelling under very tight, close and heavily armed security was today put aside for one of those truly “Oh WOW” moments. The temple of Osiris, at Abydos is truly fantastic in design, colours and light, that I walked around for nearly two hours mouth agape. This is just one of many I could have selected. So, all together now.... WOW

Afterwards, a visit to the Temple of Hathor at Dendera was a pale imitation – which it in fact is, being 'only' just over 2 thousand years old, a Graeco-Roman creation, honouring the Ptolemaic pharoahs – the last of which was Cleopatra.

Love the shafts of light here. You weren't being naughty with your camera here, were you?
