Spiky Head

Wednesday 17th August - Day 242

A break from walking the edge of the moor, and this evening a gentle wander around the garden. I can find both relaxing, which is what I need sometimes!

When it comes to plants, I'm very much one of the "It looks nice, but I don't know what it is" people! I thought this looked somewhat alien-like.

This picture fills me with awe - they are a firey red for a very good reason, such is nature's way.

I wouldn't have had a clue until I read the other comments. Vry good detail and so colourful.

That's a cool close up, looks like one of those spikey balls...I think they call them a "koosh"?

Looks like you could break your nose on that!

Yes it is Echinacea - I found the plan :) Thanks for everybody who pointed me in the right direction!

I agree on it being Echinacea. Centres are always interesting repeat patterns & colours.

Oh, Lee, this is stunning! I'm with you! I'm learning the names of flowers and plants from all these knowledgeable fellow Pbasers! Love the vivid colors and the great crop!

I agree - it's echinacea. (It's also rather nice!)

Red hot pokers or hot peppers look alikes. This is such a sharp shot. Could be echinacea.
