Oilseed Rape, Exeter

Wednesday 13th April - Day 116

Oilseed rape fields in springtime are becoming something of a seasonal statement... yellow fields scattered across the landscape. It is certainly not a sight that I remember from my youth. Colourful this crop may be, but it is not everyones favourite crop.

OK... it may be colourful, but I'm on a B&W kick this week, so I wanted to tackle it as a project to try and portray it in B&W form as well as possible.

Converted using Convert to B&W Pro, and contrast boosted even more using Gaussian Blur>Fade>soft light (thanks Nancy!)

The colour version for all you aficionados!

The color version is beautiful. It look very dramatic in B&W. I like both.

I think it is amazing how different the mood is when you see the black and white against the colored ones, even the clouds appear larger and more powerful in the black and white, while the colored one is just truly friendly in appearance. Great job, love the contrast between the two.

This is a stunning shot. Voted. I looked at a similar field at the weekend and wondered why people don't like oilseed rape - it seems quite pretty to me. But I'm a city girl and don't know about these things.

Great subject...I think I like the color the best ~ those yellows just pop against the bright blue sky. Beautiful scene :)

I like the contrast in texture between the plants and the clouds. Great capture.
