Borneo Death Mask no.2

Tuesday 1st March 2005 - Day 73

This is the twin of yesterday's mask. This one was my choice - I cant think why I didnt choose the much more colourful one! I suppose I was 'attracted' to the broader brush paintwork in it.

These have both been quite difficult to light - I think that a light tent is asking to be built! In the meantime, I decided to try and make the light part of the image.

I'd go back to landscapes but it is a bit 'orrible outside - just wet and cold at the moment, with snow threatening. Lets see if we got it right this time :)

Lee, this looks like a museum catalog shot. Very nice.

What a beautiful piece of art work! I missed yesterday's photo and I'm off to track it down....

I like the way that you used the light! Great mask!

I actually prefer this one, maybe because it is smoother or appears to be, yet defined enough to see the details even in this bit of darker lighting. Great job.

Thanks for the request of showing this mask. I like how the light hits part of the mask. I prefer yesterday's mask though. It's more colorful and more expressive. You did a good job!

Great mask & I like your angle here, Lee.

I like the angle you've taken this at, and I think the lighting works well.

I think you've angled it so the light hits in all the right places.

Yep, agree with Sheena that the composition is great, and the lighting works - I'd have been tempted to completely overdo it!
It looks like it's screaming - I think you've upset it... :0

Lee, I like the angled composition and I think you have to have some light on the mask to bring it to life, so to speak! I think you have positioned it well.
