Okehampton Castle by night

Thursday 30th December 2004 - Day 12

Okehampton Castle has been ruined for centuries, it sits quietly in the grounds of a former deer park, and would have once been quite a dominating feature in the Okehampton 'valley'. The East Okement river passes at the foot of the castle, and the old main road close by. Indeed, Okehampton has been forified for even longer, there is the outline of a roman fort close to my house... not that I have seen it, I just know it is there!.

The floodlighting lends the castle an eerie effect at night. There were several hoots and screeches in the background as I was taking this, making it very spooky.

Like Gayle, what attracted me most was the lighting. This is what makes the picture so spooky. Very nice composition of the lighting and subject.

Great! The tree looks like a ghost coming at you with open arms.
