22nd December 2004 - Day 4


When roads are improved, and large sections of road are bypassed, it is a sad effect, but not unexpected, that established businesses lose a lot of their passing trade and are forced to close. This is, I think, a former auto repair shop near Okehampton on the old A30.

BTW, your artist got soaked in the making of this image...

Very nice. Reminds me of some Walker Evans' photos taken in the 1930s of rural America. Similar feel.

I hope you kept your camera dry! A lonely looking building on a sad gray day. It is always so sad to see the small towns die because roads bypass them.
