When Sheba & Shardik arrived at the Park they were already ten years old. Shardik is shown in the
photo and is the larger of the two grizzlies. These two grizzlies came from the University of British
Columbia where they spent ten years being studied by a well-known bear biologist, Tony Hamilton.

The cubs were born in the wild in 1975. Their mother was a "garbage bear" that was exterminated in the
Bella Coola area.
