I found this broken rocker in one of the upstairs rooms in the J.K.Wells Hotel. There were a few old
things in the room that looked like they'd be fun to photograph. As I moved slowly around the room
careful not to bump into anything, I noticed out of the corner of my eye the rocker slowly begin to
rock. When I turned to stare at it, it gently stopped. Weird! I assumed there was a loose floor board
causing the rocking, but try as I might, I couldn't make it rock again by stepping in different
places. I finally went back to looking for photos and no sooner had I turned my back when the rocker
began to slowly rock back and forth. When I turned, it stopped and despite several more tries, I
couldn't figure out what I'd done to make it move. No breeze, nothing else going on in the hotel to
cause it. I took a few shots in the room after taking this picture of the chair. When the darn thing
started rocking for the third time, I started thinking about ghosts and how this place is supposed to
be haunted... Right then I noticed the house was eerily quiet and I wondered if I was all alone in
the hotel. Goose bumps sprung up on my arms and I decided it was time to go find Fred, lol.
I never did find a composition of the rocker I was totally happy with--I liked the pool of light it
sat in, but couldn't avoid including a bit of the window in the frame. Does the window frame detract?
