Built in 1247 as the Palace of the Count of Holland, King Willem II and later Count Floris V. The Ridderzaal was built in the Binnenhof, where parts of the Dutch parliament are now situated. Since 1904 the Ridderzaal has been the location for the Speech from the Throne by the Dutch monarch.
