Wat Doi Suthep, or to give this temple its full name, Wat Phra Boromathat Doi Suthep, is located on Doi Suthep mountain above the city of Chiang Mai. The Wat, or temple, reportedly dates back to the 14th Century, although the beautiful golden chedi (or stupa) was enlarged in the early 16th century to its present octagonal form.
