Daily Classes





The magic of Dance isn’t created in a short period of time. It takes the sweat of years in ballet class to become a true artist. Daily class is a must. Rudolph Nureyev said, “If I miss one day of class, I know. If I miss two days, my company knows. If I miss three, my audience knows.” Class is the backbone and fuel of performance. It is also a private world, where each dancer is an individual citizen and also a member of his or her own group. Support, competition, comparison, and accomplishment are a part of this daily ritual.

All of these photographs were made with a Canon 5D at ISO 1600 and a Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS lens hand held.

This was a challenge... I am wondering how the even bigger challenge next month will turn out. I already know that you will make it look like a piece of cake but anyone who will even remotely attempt it will realize that what you make look easy is a mere impossibility for anyone else. I really enjoyed revisiting this gallery and the more I look at it, the more I see things that you already saw when you captured the moment. This series has more than merit and you have captured the essence of the event. I moaned and complained about the backgrounds and the lights but this is what the SERBA really is like... I sometimes wonder if it is possible for an artist to be a reportage photographer at the same time. I truely believe that you are an artist with the skills of both.

these images reveal more than just the glamour of the ballets... informative and remind me of the background rigourous work sometimes/often need to produce magical art as seen in your performance galleries...

i likely need to bring some of this work and thought to my shots... vs old style of going click click when seeing something that caught my attention

i seem to be taking the art of photography a bit more seriously... equipment wise and exposure and comp... and your
work

CLARITY
of creative
focus is influencing me indeed!
