Saturday Performances

Each dance company had the opportunity to present a dance to the applause and cheers of the appreciative audience. These are shots from the dress rehearsals. Each company had 20 minutes on the stage. During this time lights were adjusted and their spacing on the stage was set and finally they would perform their dance. I used my Canon 5D at ISO 1600 and my Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS.

Each dance company is given one line of 4 images if I was able to capture 4. The lighting level and choreography limited my shooting of some of the dances.

Wow! I'm actually with Midland Festival Ballet (the dance company in the 4th row) and I was AMAZED at how well you captured the girls in "After the Rain." Great Job!! The pictures are beautiful!!

Bravo and thank you, Mr. Calmes, for your fine work here! My daughter is among the pictures from the closing ceremonies on Saturday night. For those here who don't know, these are the "cream of the crop", young dancers from all over America who have qualified to present their works at what is only the second nationwide celebration of Regional Dance America, the latest name for an "august" institution going back very many decades, promoting dance in communities across the USA, not just a few major cities. As an amateur photographer, I know how difficult it can be to do what you have done here. Wonderful artistry you are showing here! You don't know when the peak of each movement will be attained, still you have done amazingly well in capturing highlights of each piece! Thank you!! :)
