Taxi

This was typical. There must be 25 people piled on this 3 wheeled motor scooter taxi. These Vietnamese spent the day working as hooch maids and in the mess halls. Sorry it is not focused well as I was driving a jeep and taking this shot at the same time. No autofocus back then.

That's not a Taxi!
We call it A Lambro and it has just 3 wheels pulled by a
550cc ( as mentioned on the side )2 cycle engine. One of the most public transportation at all time!

I was amazed at how they piled people and cargo on the 4 wheeled mini buses but these 3 wheelers were downright scary. One late afternoon when I was on the way to the air base having just gotten off of the bridge I saw a Vietnamese wipe out on a Honda motor scooter in my rear view mirror right in front of deuce and a half. I didn't see him get hit as I was going away from it but I don't think the truck could have stopped in time.

I actually witnessed an Army truck hit one of these and injured 15 people. A nurse at the Army hospital said a couple had die and most were seriously injured, Pleiku VN 1970

They used this type of vehicle to haul logs from the rubber tree plantations. there would be so many logs on it that you could barely see the three wheeler. good shot.

Mmmm, imagine the headlines. Three wheeler taxi runs off the road... 30 people injured... What a shot. This must have been one bargain ride... ;¬)

The out-of-focus look does not lessen the image at all. A great photograph is based on the vision of the photographer and not the vision of the lens.
