I saw that Red Ibis last night at sundown. It was nesting in a tree at Lakes Park with hundreds of the white ibis. Lakes Park is a bird sanctuary owned by Lee County and is on Gladiolus west of 41 in South Fort Myers

We were at Bayfront Bistro at the Snookbight Marina last night. They have a wall that opens for open air dining. The view is spectacular....like a mural on a wall. The crowd began to clap and "awwww" as cameras flashed, so we looked up and saw this most magnificent sight! The red ibis flying amongst a flock of white ibis that adopted it. The bartender said they fly by every night around 7:30, headed north up the bay. We were told there are only 2 in Florida. One in captivity and this bird at Ft. Myers Beach. We were told this bird is common in Trinidad and it is assumed he arrived here in a hurricane.

On March 9, 2009 I, along with my mom and sister were also fortunate to view the red ibis amidst the flock passing by the Bayfront Bistro at Ft. Myers Beach. The flock has been flying by for the past few weeks between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. What an awesome sight!

Today 1 March 2009 we were amazed to see a Scarlet Ibit at the Mount Edgecombe Golf Club - Durban - South Africa - what a beautiful sight. Have never seen such a beautiful bird - and yes, it was feeding amongs the Sacret Ibis. Let hope it stays for all to see.

my wife and I were at the new restaurant, at least to us, called bay bistro behind publix on fort myers beach. I was looking out and much to our suprise I saw a deep red ibis amongst a flock of white ibis. It was beatuful and all of the other restaurant guest were amazed as well. I grew up on sanibel and lived in lee county beginning at 11 years old and have never seen that. this was just a couple a days ago on Feb. 19th.

We see the lone Red Ibis with a large flock of White Ibis flying up Estero Bay at sunset time every evening for the past few weeks - It is amazing! People on the piers are so excited to see this site that they applaud after the flock goes by!
Marvelous!!!

There is a bright red ibis living within a flock of white ibis' nesting along Estero Island (Ft. Myers Beach, FL). It is much brighter red than the one in the picture. Truly an amazing sight.

I remember reading a book at school about the Scarlet Ibis. If I recall it correctly it was by James Hurst. It was a story which was set in tehe American South West at end of the first world war. While Europe is at war the story revolves around the struggles between two brothers. Some stories just stick and this image has revived my memories. A beautifyl shot.
