Friday Performances

Each dance company had the opportunity to present a dance to the applause and cheers of the appreciative audience. These are shots from the dress rehearsals. Each company had 20 minutes on the stage. During this time lights were adjusted and their spacing on the stage was set and finally they would perform their dance. I used my Canon 5D at ISO 1600 and my Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS.

Each dance company is given one line of 4 images if I was able to capture 4. The lighting level and choreography limited my shooting of some of the dances.

Your pictures are beautiful and they capture the movement so well. I'm actually the girl that broke her foot, so I really appreciate that one picture you have of me on the 9th line. :) Thank you for such beautiful photography!

My company is on the 9th line! The last picture, the one of the individual girl, was the girl who broke her foot during that rehearsal! She didn't get to perform, but she looks great here!!

my company is on the last line!!! i didn't perform, but aren't they AMAZING!!!!! the third picture is the BEZT i think I have ever seen of a modern piece our company has done.

Richard, you continue to outdo yourself. I do a lot of theater photography, and appreciate the lighting challenges, but on top of this you deal with fast motion as well. As always, your captures are perfectly composed and timed. I don't see how one could possibly do better outside of a studio environment.
