Beautiful Music

Danijela invited me to a concert where she performed Beethoven and Sarasate violin pieces accompanied by her husband Paolo. See her "behaving badly" here https://pbase.com/rcalmes/image/66126327 I arrived early and got these shots as they practiced and warmed-up. I used my Canon 5D at ISO 1600 and my trusty Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS lens. Danijela is a fantastic violinist! By age 11 she was playing in the chamber orchestra in her native Croatia. She was given a full scholarship to Carnegie-Mellon University where she received her Masters Degree in 2001. She just completed her Phd in violin performance at the University of Georgia. Danijela performs as violinist and as violist in solo recitals throughout the US and Europe.

There is one thing to be said about beautiful music but being able to capture the emotion an d sensitivity of the notes so delicately on the sensitive medium is something else. I was familiar with Danijela through your previous shots but this combination is magical. The series is one of which Danijela and Paolo will be proud. It is not often that you can feel music through images without actually hearing the sound. Here you have succeeded.

Beautifully lit,composed and processed, well done. I too favor the 70-200 VR (though, I shoot with a Nikon) and ISO 1600 for concert work. You've inspired me to return once again to something outside of blues, jazz and rock, thank you!

Some of these photos looks just like that what I would image that photos about classic music would be =) So good work and nice photos.
Those photos where is not whole body of Danijela are best IMHO =) like that shadow/light play over her face/violin.
