Snowy Owl in Stevens Point by Ted Keyel

This bird was photographed in Stevens Point, WI, on 23 November 2008 by Ted Keyel.

Looks like a male to me, based on large white bib, lightly marked nape, relatively lighter barring on the back, and fewer, thinner, and more incomplete tail bands barely visible in some photos. Age is tougher b/c no juvie plumage is evident and the inner remiges and coverts do not seem to show the "mottling" supposedly suggestive of immatures. One would expect an adult male to be lighter than this bird, however.
